2100 North Main Street is the location of a gas station and convenience store, on the northwest corner of North Main Street and Goold Street in Racine, Wisconsin. The location is currently home to Citgo gas station #14234005 and a convenience store, Mangat Inc. Gas stations of various brands have operated on the site continuously since 1925.

History[edit | edit source]

2100 North Main Street is located on part of the former site of Crystal Lake, an abandoned clay pit that filled with rainwater and became a pond used for skating and ice harvesting in the winter. The lake was filled in and zoned for residential development in the 1920s. In March 1925, the Sieber Oil Company proposed rezoning the area that is now 2100 N. Main to build a gasoline filling station.[1] The filling station was granted a construction permit in April,[2] and was open by 1926.[3] In March 1927, when the station was robbed, it was described as a "Thyson" or "Tyson" oil stand.[4]

Myers Lakeview Service Station operated at the location as early as 1933.[5] The Sieber-Diamond Oil Company continued to serve as the station's distributor, selling D-X fuel.[6] In June 1971, it became Myers Lakeview Sunoco This is a link to a Wikipedia article, after Sunoco acquired D-X.[7]

$av-Mor Auto Service opened at the location in 1975.[8]

Mark P. Swatek received a liquor license for the service station in August 1984.[9] On August 22, 2003, Swatek Enterprises sold the property to Rowen Petroleum Properties, which sold it again to 2100 N Main Street LLC on September 1, 2004.[10] 2100 N Main Street LLC was created earlier that year, and is managed by Jatinder S. Mangat.[11]
