The Peck Building was constructed in 1903, on a site of a former quarry. The building was opened in 1904, housing a textile factory<ref>[https://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/28/business/ubisofts-montreal-studio-where-artists-are-superheroes.html Where the Artists Are the Superheroes], [[The New York Times]], April 27, 2013.</ref> owned by John W. Peck & Company Ltd. In 1913, the building was extended to the [[St-Dominique Street (Montreal, Quebec)|St-Dominique Street]] in order to house more employees. On May 26, 1920, John W. Peck, owner of Peck & Co., had died of heart disease. Ten years later, in 1920, the factory was closed. Since then, several other clothing manufacturers were occupying the space.
