7-Eleven is an international chain of convenience stores owned or licensed by Seven & I Holdings Co.. As of January 31, 2023, there were 83,426 7-Eleven stores in 19 countries,[1] making it the largest retail chain in the world.

Total stores, 1948-present

The table below gives the total number of 7-Eleven locations worldwide at the end of the indicated year, followed by a breakdown of the number of locations in each country. The table only includes stores under the 7-Eleven or Super Siete brand names, or stores in the process of being converted to the 7-Eleven brand. It does not include stores of other brands owned or operated by Southland Corporation, 7-Eleven Inc., or Seven & I Holdings Co. The table also makes no distinction between the corporate-owned, franchised, and/or licensed 7-Eleven branded stores in each country.

Founded in Texas in 1927 as the Southland Ice Company, 7-Eleven stores existed solely in the United States until the first locations in Canada opened in 1969. The first Super Siete store opened in Mexico in 1971. 7-Eleven expanded to Japan in 1974, and by 1994, its Japanese locations outnumbered its stores in the United States. Today, the chain also has over 1,000 locations in Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, mainland China, the Philippines, and Malaysia. 7-Eleven stores also currently exist in Australia, Singapore, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Vietnam. The first 7-Eleven stores opened in Cambodia and India in 2021, and a location in Tel Aviv, Israel, opened in January 2023.

7-Eleven has also previously operated locations in the United Kingdom (1977–1998), Panama (1986–1994), Ireland (1987–1990), Brazil (1988–1999), Turkey (1988–2008), Indonesia (1988–1991 and 2009–2017), and the United Arab Emirates (2015–2020).[2][3]
