[[Little Sandy Creek (West Virginia)|Little Sandy Creek]] flooded in June 2016, destroying the culvert which provided access to the Crossings Mall center, and forcing the Kmart to close. When the access road was not repaired for several months, some employees at the Kmart were reassigned to other stores in the area, while others were laid off in February 2017. The Original Plan was to Close this store Alongside With 78 other Stores in July 2016, But the Plan Was Removed for Ideas. After a new bridge was constructed in July, the store reopened in September 2017.<ref>Steelhammer, Rick.
