Kmart #7795 was a Kmart discount department store located at Westgate Town Center, 4565 South 1st Street in Abilene, Texas.[1] The store opened on February 18, 2000 as Big Kmart,[2] replacing Kmart 4401, with a formal grand opening ceremony on February 19.[3] The store was originally stated to close in 2003 during the company's bankruptcy, but would end up being spared due to lease renegotiations with the store's landlord that allowed the store to remain open.[4] The store would ultimately close for good on December 11, 2016.[5] Prior to Kmart, the site was previously occupied by S.S. Kresge 701 (later TG&Y 836) and several smaller tenants.
