The first Super Kmart, [[Kmart 3786|Kmart #3786]], opened in [[Medina, Ohio]] in 1991. The chain's primary competitor was the [[Walmart Supercenter]]. After Kmart's first bankruptcy in 2002, the chain stopped opening new stores, and many Super Kmart Centers were converted into regular Kmarts or closed. The last remaining Super Kmart, [[Kmart 4939|Kmart #4939]] in [[Warren, Ohio]], closed in 2018.
