In February 2004, there were rumors that Home Depot would be building a new store near the location of the former Big Kmart at Victory Drive. The plans called for razing multiple businesses, including one named Scotty's Hardware. By this point, the store was boarded up and vacant.[3] In March 2004, the plans were approved.[4]
However, by May 2004, the plans for building at Scotty's Hardware were "scuttled", and they had a then-unsettled contract for the Kmart building.[5]
Home Depot announced on March 21, 2005 that the store would be opening on March 31. It is located at the former Big Kmart.[6]
