Flooding[edit source]

Hey, can you add the bot flag to your account until you are done with the automated edits? The edits been filling the global changes feed. Thanks. LakesideMiners (talk) 20:14, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know, I have now added the bot flag to my account. I will continue the automated edits now, so let me know if you have any more concerns. Reschultzed (talk) 21:26, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
Per request. About what Miners said. Although his account has the Bot flag it still appears in the recent changes to in the recent changes channel of the wikis in #Miraheze-feed on IRC. Don't worry, the failure of the Bot flag is a system error and not yours (it happened with my puppet account on my wiki). I will explain.
It seems that after giving the bot flag to an account, you should wait until an hour or more before doing a post-flag edit. This is so that the system will update and know the change of user permissions. What you should do is remove the Bot flag. After a few minutes or an hour or more, grant the Bot flag and wait another hour or more to make the edits you want to make. So I did it with the difference that they had a lapse of 12 or 24 hours (between the granting of the flag to the first post-flag edition).
I forgot, this bug only occurs when doing automatic or semi-automatic edits (with ReplaceText, AutoWikiBrowser, etc.). Editions do not appear in the normal use of the Bot flag (1 edition per minute for example)
I just want to make it clear that we don't want to pressure him or anything. There are some volunteers on the #Miraheze-feed channel who check recent changes for vandalism or other reasons and sometimes the automatic edits prevent edits from appearing because the RC bot doesn't read all of them. Sorry for the inconvenience and greetings. --Hispano76 (talk) 01:52, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. So, just to be clear, I will now remove the bot flag, wait at least an hour, add the bot flag again, wait at least an hour, and only then return to automated editing. If this isn't exactly right, or if anything else goes wrong, please let me know. Reschultzed (talk) 02:25, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
I have now followed these instructions and will start automated edits again. Please let me know ASAP if there continue to be problems – I really don't want to inconvenience anyone, especially on other wikis, with this setup process. Reschultzed (talk) 05:32, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Well, like you asked me to let you know. It still didn't work out and I think it's just AWB. It could be because it keeps the session in AutoWikibrowser at the time the flag is set.
I haven't tried it and I'm just saying it but I should log out of Autowikibrowser before setting the flag and wait a long enough time at least until editing. It probably worked for me because I waited at least 12 hours for other reasons and maybe in that time it would update itself. I'm sorry to take up your time and I apologize for the inconvenience. You'll decide.
Or the simplest, temporarily modify ManageWiki, so that only registered Users read the pages. First, giving the "Read" right to Users and removing the "Read" right to anonymous ones. This will prevent the wiki from appearing in the channel.
Greetings and sorry.--Hispano76 (talk) 23:06, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. I have just logged out of, restarted, and logged back into AWB and it now appears to explicitly recognize the bot flag in the bottom status bar (I don't think it was doing that before). I have also set reading pages as a right for users, but I don't see any option to remove it as a right for unregistered users. Please let me know if this has not resolved the problem. Reschultzed (talk) 00:21, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

Btw, I would recommend using a different account for bot edits, so there wouldn't be a need to scroll through all the automatic edits to see the manual ones - Monirec (talk) 07:50, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

The automatic edits shouldn't appear on Special:RecentChanges. Where are you seeing them? Reschultzed (talk) 07:56, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
I am not seeing any of the manual edits made by people with the bot flag (which is currently given to Dibbydib and you), so that's why I am disabling "Human (not bot)" filter. - Monirec (talk) 09:20, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

AutoWikiBrowser[edit source]

I've noticed this wiki a while back and decided to contribute. Since this wiki mainly relies on automation, it'd be best to step up and use AutoWikiBrowser on this wiki. I'm no newbie - I do automation jobs for plenty of other wikis and am familiar with AutoWikiBrowser. However:

  1. It'd be best to ask for permissions to use AutoWikiBrowser rather than edit articles with it out of the blue.
  2. AutoWikiBrowser is not working on Miraheze wikis for me - don't get me wrong, it totally did earlier. Here's the main error message that comes up:
API returned the following error: 'The "login" module requires a POST request.'
so I'm not sure why it's running fine for you. I'll try using a different account and changing my password for that

Anyway, good work on the wiki! Dibbydib (talk) 08:26, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know. I think I had the same problem when I first started using AWB on here, but I can't remember at the moment how I got it working. I'll see if I can find it again. As you can see in the discussion above, I did discuss large-scale automation with Miraheze staff members, and while I admit I should've asked them before starting, they seem to be satisfied with my approach now. If you're asking to use AWB on this wiki, I'd be happy to help you out and give you the necessary permissions, but I'd like to know more about what you'd like to do first. Good luck! --Reschultzed (talk) 17:04, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
The main project I have in mind is to fill up redlinks. This includes adding categories and lists for common locations (such as Edmonds, Washington) in places, as well as any other fixes I stumble across. Dibbydib (talk) 01:17, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
That's definitely a good idea. I've made a few small changes to the example you created, which I would ask you to consider using in the future. First of all, any Bluepages article which has the same title and subject as a Wikipedia article should have the Summary template at the top, as a reminder not to duplicate that site's existing labor. Secondly, I think what you're trying to do with the list of locations might be better served by the category system, so I've added some categories to demonstrate what that should look like. Let me know any of your thoughts or suggestions, and let me know if you'd like me to get started on giving your account bot permissions. Thanks, Reschultzed (talk) 01:56, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Visual Editor[edit source]

Can you enable visual editor for the wiki? I know how to use the current one but the text can become hard to read real quick. --Monirec (talk) 19:30, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Done, thank you. --Reschultzed (talk) 19:33, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
That was quick, I'll check if it works later. Thanks!--Monirec (talk) 19:38, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Route proposal[edit source]

On User:Monirec/Sandbox i created hypothetical color coding for street's route sections, can you check it out? --Monirec (talk) 13:22, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

It's an interesting concept. In the future, I'd like to be able to pull the route information from OpenStreetMap, so maybe the color scheme could be drawn from that site as well. I would definitely encourage you to keep experimenting with this. --Reschultzed (talk) 17:26, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

ImportSpreadsheet[edit source]

Heyo Reschultzed, how you import spreadsheets to add articles? I'm trying to do it to a different wiki but am having some issues, and you seemed like the guy to call. I'm trying to use the "Special:ImportSpreadsheet" function, which returns an error message of "You must have the PHPExcel library installed to run this page.". I took it to phab and it looks like it's a deperacation issue with the PHPExcel software, which needs to change to PhpSpreadsheet.

It seems to work here, so, how did you do it? Dibbydib (talk) 08:47, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi Dibbydib, I use AutoWikiBrowser with the CSV Loader plugin to import articles. Hope this helps, Reschultzed (talk) 17:58, 29 June 2020 (UTC)

Template duplicate?[edit source]

Did you duplicate the Template:OpenStreetMap with Template:OSM? - Monirec (talk) 10:06, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi Monirec, yes. I created Template:OSM as an alternative because I feel like such a commonly-used template should generally have a short name, as well as to add a Wikipedia link to OpenStreetMap This is a link to a Wikipedia article. Feel free to do whatever you want with Template:OpenStreetMap. --Reschultzed (talk) 03:05, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
Well, then if you want a short name Template:OSM could be a redirect to Template:OpenStreetMap, and the link to Wikipedia could be added - Monirec (talk) 11:03, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
Good idea. Done. Thank you. --Reschultzed (talk) 17:01, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

Bot help[edit source]

Hi Reschultzed, I am an admin on the Linguapedia wiki who would like to generate some articles from a few of my spreadsheets. I'm looking at ultimately creating maybe 10,000 new articles, but can start off with maybe 50 to test things out.

How do you make a bot that generates articles from spreadsheets? Lingua (talk) 19:00, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi Lingua, I use AutoWikiBrowser This is a link to a Wikipedia article with the CSVLoader This is a link to a Wikipedia article plugin to create and update articles. I think the walkthroughs at those two links should be clear enough to help you get started, but I'd be happy to provide help if needed. Thanks, Reschultzed (talk) 19:08, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Spreadsheets[edit source]

I wonder, how are spreadsheets for imports are made? Talking specifically about copying from the company's website. - Monirec (talk) 13:22, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

I personally tend to use Octoparse for scraping data from an official website, and then Google Sheets is where I shape that raw data into something usable, particularly by unabbreviating addresses. –Reschultzed (talk) 17:59, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Local Language?[edit source]

Hi. I'm really interested with this idea (Bluepages). Back then, i had discussion on my local OpenStreetMap community, to build a wiki, to store details and history about a certain places. Their responses are generally positive. Some of us even start doing this alone, by using wordpress platform, to write about detailed history of each skyscrapers in Indonesia (you can see it here : https://www.setiapgedung.web.id/). As for me, i start doing it on Wikipedia, my own github pages, my own wordpress and my own Miraheze instance, sporadically.

Let's say, i want to move all of my project here at Bluepages. The problem is, can we keep it using our native languages? Our primary audiences are the locals anyway. Rtnf2 (talk) 09:23, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

I think that would be a great idea. Right now, languages other than English have their own namespaces (for example, RU:Dodo Pizza East Memphis-1 is in Russian). So you could add the articles here prefixed with ID: or something similar. If there's enough interest, maybe other language versions of Bluepages will split off into their own wikis like on Wikipedia, so that English wouldn't be the default anymore. My ability to watch new edits and moderate content in a language I don't speak will be limited, but I'd be happy to work with you more on this! Reschultzed (talk) 02:45, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Here is a proposal from me : allow article about places from other country (outside anglophone country) be written in the main namespace, in their own native language . The goal is to make it easier for local contributor to link between places. Maybe, it will be also indexed better by Google.
Also, introducing non-anglophone country's places here led to a new problem : should we translate an article about one place to several languages, just like wikipedia did before? (as for now, countless en wiki article is being re-translated to countless local language wiki). My current assumption is : we dont need to do that. If a place is not internationally-notable, people from another country maybe dont really interested with that place. (well, if a place is internationally notable, it probably deserves a Wikipedia article, not here (?)). If someone really interested with certain local foreign location, they can ask for translation in the talk pages, so they can get contact with the local contributors. Anyway, this problem is still an open question to me. Maybe you have another idea?
Actually, it is probably easier for me to just ask a new miraheze wiki instance and build this same exact wiki like Bluepage for my local community. But, since we have the same exact vision, maybe we can unite to make bluepages (and our shared vision in general) to get more recognition.
Regarding Indonesian-language content moderation, i can help you moderate it.
My current short-term plan is :
  1. Understanding the definition of "notable" place in Indonesian Wikipedia. One of the biggest difference between Bluepages and Wikipedia is (as my understanding), there is no concept of notability in Bluepages. After that, i can start migrating anything deemed "non-notable" from Wikipedia to Bluepage (of course with Indonesian Wikipedia's sysops approval). Whenever a new Indonesian Wikipedia user added a new "non-notable place" there, i can ask the sysops to delete it, and tell them to post it on Bluepages instead. We (Indonesian Wikipedia Community) actually have a lengthy discussion about this (to migrate anything non-notable to their own separate wiki) and the consensus is : they agreed to migrate it.
  2. Promoting this idea to Indonesian OpenStreetMap community. I have pitched this idea several weeks ago. I think the response is quite positive. But the problem back then is, we dont have the actual platform to do it. Bluepages, i think, is the exact platform that we need.
Rtnf2 (talk) 07:44, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
A problem I see with writing in a native/primary languague of a country in the main namespace are countries where mutliple languagues are widely used This is a link to a Wikipedia article. In Kazakhstan, Russian is often used alongside Kazakh, and there are plenty of other languagues used aswell. In a country with 100+ ethnicities people might want to read articles about their city/village in their preferred languague :P. Interestingly, this actually became a problem in OpenStreetMap where Russian was used to name cities and regions instead of Kazakh, despite the latter being way more fitting. - Monirec (talk) 10:04, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Local namespace is fine, as long as it provided the namespace-internal linking functionality. By using this, every wikilink that is made inside a namespace will not be leaked back to the main namespace. I'm trying to find the solution by asking on the Miraheze Community Noticeboard and Mediawiki Support Desk. Rtnf2 (talk) 02:18, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
It's a bit unconventional in terms of usage of interwiki; however, you could define a separate prefix for each namespace on the same wiki, like prefixA would be defined locally in Special:Interwiki as https://www.bluepages.org/wiki/NamespaceA:$1, where NamespaceA is the namespace prefix for that namespace. That way, you'd link to [[prefixA:page name|optional displayed text]]. Could something like that work? Dmehus (talk) 02:29, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Real or fake Kmarts?[edit source]

Kmart 9401 Kmart 9402 Someone added these and I can't find any EXISTENCE of these locations. they're not listed in the 2002 closure list and are they real or fake? or listed in the spreadsheet?

  • You're right, these don't seem to be real locations and so I've deleted them. Thanks for catching that. --Reschultzed (talk) 14:57, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Creating pages for places (like Sears) you know exist, but don't know the store number[edit source]

In this case, I know of two additional Sears locations here in the city of Cheyenne, Wyoming (even down to within a year of when they opened and closed), but I don't know their store numbers. What would be the best way to go about adding a page regarding the two additional stores that I've discovered since I don't know their store numbers?TheOptopolis

Hi there, I would recommend a title along the lines of Sears (123 Main Street, City, State) (although you could leave out the address if it were the only location that particular town ever had). That's what I've been doing. Since I also maintain a list of Sears department stores, I'm curious to know if the locations you have in mind were department stores or catalog outlets/franchises? It doesn't affect the title, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something. --Reschultzed (talk) 03:58, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
(I guess it may help if I put my usertag, haha.) Okay. I knew I'd seen cases of this take place on this wiki before where there is no store number, but I couldn't seem to find them again for reference. Both these stores are catalog stores... well technically, the second one is labeled in the city directories from the time as "Sears Roebuck & Co," but it's still a smaller store floor with a small automotive shop in the back. Here in Cheyenne, Sears started on Carey Avenue near W 19th St in 1957 (at least, that date is according to someone who was noted in the Sears Frontier Mall Grand Opening section from Oct 7 and 8 of 1980 which I discovered in a newspaper from Wyoming Tribune more recently). It moved to E 17th St near Warren Avenue (modern day it is a restaurant called Two Doors Down) before moving to the department store at Frontier Mall. Let's give this a shot... The first one (Carey Ave) was Sears (1813 Carey Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming). The second one was Sears (116 East 17th St, Cheyenne, Wyoming). Then I'll just have to go to those pages and actually create the page. TheOptopolis
@Reschultzed Just added pages for each of the two previous Cheyenne Sears locations. Updated the Sears Frontier Mall one with a link to the past location as well. TheOptopolis
Thank you very much! I just went ahead and turned the abbreviation "St" into "Street" real quick, but aside from that, nice work and I'm glad to have you here. --Reschultzed (talk) 04:53, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
For sure @Reschultzed! Been a minute since I've communicated with you. Glad to contribute to this wiki in some way. If I remember right, I was the one that mentioned the other two Cheyenne Kmart stores in the day. It'd be kinda cool to one day have a reference for more places! TheOptopolis 03:59, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Shopping Malls?[edit source]

I've noticed that some places listed at the location of shopping malls/plazas seem to have links to the respective mall, but most if not all malls are currently not created. With that, I presume there'd be interest in creating pages on malls as well, wouldn't there? Do you have a preference for how to label them? I do already know there will be some examples like Frontier Mall where there'll have to be something to distinguish between say Frontier Mall in Cheyenne and Frontier Mall/Frontier Centre (branded as both depending on what you look at) in Saskatchewan... maybe naming the pages with a similar format as with the Sears example previously mentioned would be appropriate? Or would you prefer doing more like "Frontier Mall (Cheyenne)" or something of the like? --TheOptopolis (talk) 20:12, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

You know what, I just found one such example; I wasn't searching the right thing before. City_Center_Plaza_(Appleton,_Wisconsin) I'll look toward following this as a guideline for now. I can't do all malls just because there are so many, but I'd love to add info to malls and shopping centers in my area. If you have any other thoughts, just let me know.--TheOptopolis (talk) 22:31, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Yes, you have that right. I might add some automatically generated pages to fill out some of those red links in the future and hopefully encourage people to contribute to them more. --Reschultzed (talk) 23:19, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

What would be the name format for a Kmart store whose store number is not known but known to exist?[edit source]

If a Kmart is known but store number not known, what would be the naming format? --180.190.197.16 23:18, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Infobox Templates for stores not listed (including JAX and Sutherlands)[edit source]

I'm not even sure I know how to explain this, but here go's. There's no infobox template for JAX (sometimes called JAX Goods or JAX Mercantile Co, it's a smaller brand of outdoor gear/farm/clothing stores mainly in the Front Range/Colorado region) and no infobox for Sutherlands (a home improvement store with locations in the US). As far as I'm reading, I guess there's some complexity to people these templated infoboxes. Am I able to go about creating an infobox for these, or is that something that you'd have to go about creating? In either case, I realize it'd be good to have similar sections (opened/closed/coords/and others) in the info box seen on store pages of Kmart, Sears, etc.--TheOptopolis (talk) 20:36, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

  • Anyone can create a new infobox template - I would recommend taking the source code of another template that already exists and copying it to a new page, such as Template:Infobox JAX, making sure to change every appearance of the chain's name but no need to alter anything else. You can add it to the list on Bluepages:Tables as well - same idea, just copy the source code from one of the other table pages that are linked there, change the names, and you should be good. But if that doesn't work or proves to be too confusing, I don't mind adding it myself at all. -Reschultzed (talk) 23:24, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
  • @Reschultzed Ah that makes more sense now! Way easier than I was thinking it was. Cheers! Added JAX, Sutherlands.--TheOptopolis (talk) 04:53, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
  • @Reschultzed I'm running into a bug with Template:Infobox JAX, so it seems, and I am not coming across what is tripping the error. I created three JAX pages JAX 7, JAX 8, and JAX 9, and all three display some kind of issue with the infobox, and it says, '"Unknown" contains an extrinsic dash or other characters that are invalid for a date interpretation.' The error only appears when the infobox template for JAX is used seemingly regardless of which values entered into any of the boxes including the two date boxes. All this suggests to me that there's an error in Template:Infobox JAX. My Sutherlands' template worked just fine; the odd thing is that when I use the identical source code from the Template:Infobox Sutherlands with the exception of changing "Sutherlands" to "JAX" in the template, the same error still comes up on individual JAX pages. Maybe it's just my eyes not spotting what I'd bet is a simple typo or error, but I don't know in this case. Actually... It seems to happen with any infobox as I tested the Sutherlands infobox in JAX 8; got the same result. Is it possible there is just something wrong on the JAX pages, maybe a setting that needs changed?--TheOptopolis (talk) 06:30, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Ah, I see the problem - the infobox expects there to always be a "closed" parameter, even if it's left blank in the source code and doesn't actually appear on the page. Just adding "|closed=" into the infobox gets rid of the error. That still probably shouldn't happen, so I'll see what I can do to prevent it entirely. -Reschultzed (talk) 07:01, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
      • Oddly, very originally, those are the words I was looking for to describe what was happening originally except that I didn't realize it had solely to do with the "closed" and "opened" parameters not being typed into the source like that. JAX 8 displayed two errors and..... Yep it's because in that case, it wanted both an "opened" and a "closed" parameter that I haven't entered yet in the current version. That is interesting. For now, I'll have to add those parameters into the source for all the JAX pages. Ah-ha, that also explains why I didn't have the issue on Sutherlands 4307, because I have inputted both of those two values, therefore it is not looking for any missing parameters. I guess I was right, something extremely simple that I was just not catching.--TheOptopolis (talk) 21:03, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

Target T-70[edit source]

Can't this Target (3940 West Clay Street, St. Charles, Missouri) page be merged into T-70 or moved? --120.28.225.54 22:41, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

TheOptopolis using replaced fields[edit source]

Should "replaced" and "replaced by" fields be used for previous or next tenants? TheOptopolis uses replaced fields mostly for next tenants but rarely previous.

  • "replaced" and "replaced_by" are intended for locations that have moved. If a store moved to another location and something else opened in its former place, you would put the store's new location under "replaced_by" and the thing that opened in the old location as "next". I recognize that this might be confusing, but I couldn't really think of a better way to do it. -Reschultzed (talk) 01:40, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

Let me say it, if Target T-1234 was replaced by Target T-2345, and Kmart 3333 was replaced by Kmart 9009 (just examples), Target T-1234 should be in "Replaced" for Target T-2345's page and that location should be in the "replaced by" page of the old location. Same logic applies to Kmart 3333 example location (All of these are real store numbers, just examples) --120.28.227.65 02:51, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

  • I'll be frank, the main reason those sections originally confused me is because in the visual edit screen for the infobox, the previous and next tenants only say "previous" and "next;" the word "tenant" is omitted for me. When I first saw those sections, I had no idea what the heck "previous" and "next" meant. After I realized what they meant a bunch of pages down the line, I guess you could say I had an "a-ha" moment and an "oops" moment. I've been slowly correcting this mistake as I am able to do so. --TheOptopolis (talk) 03:48, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
  • Alright, JAX and Sutherlands pages should both be corrected to use the correct configuration with replaced/replaced by/previous tenant/next tenant.

Italics removed from pages[edit source]

Many Texas pages had italics (and also other state pages) had italics removed, is it because italics break date fields? --120.28.230.107 10:34, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Delete pages[edit source]

There are some pages listed in Category:Candidates for deletion that need to be deleted. Could you take a look? Thanks. Collei (talk) 02:07, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Can somebody see if a place "JAX 16" even exists in Scottsdale, New York, the page that was added by User 120.28.230.107?[edit source]

Recently, someone who appears to not know the proper way to create pages created a page called "JAX 16" that has nothing to do with JAX Mercantile Co. If that store exists, fine, but I don't know if it exists. (If it does exist, it has nothing to do with JAX Mercantile Co, a business which never had a New York store--the farthest-east-store is in Iowa.) Can someone more educated about the area of New York see if "JAX 16" even exists? I would but I barely know anything about New York (never visited, only seen videos around NYC), and I definitely don't see any results in a quick Google search.--TheOptopolis (talk) 07:41, 3 March 2024 (UTC) Edit, looks like somebody else already beat me to asking this question and apparently there isn't even a Scottsdale in New York according to that user. "JAX 16" may need deleted.--TheOptopolis (talk) 07:43, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Reply[edit source]

A while ago, the same user changed a Kmart page to change it from "Scottsdale, AZ" to "Scottsdale, NY" but reverted it hours later.

Oh wow. I guess at least here, they didn't change an existing page. Less harmful. That still would get annoying.--TheOptopolis (talk) 07:52, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
PS thanks 120.28.250.85 for fixing my typo on the Albertson's infobox. That's my sign to get some rest, haha--TheOptopolis (talk) 08:01, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Kmart 7424, again[edit source]

That store was closed in 1991 alongside Kmart 4413, the actual opening date for 3891 was July 29, 1991 with a grand opening ceremony on August 1

Bluepages:Spreadsheet problems[edit source]

I have created a page called Bluepages:Spreadsheet problems for people who've been contested with negative feedback on the spreadsheets.

DELETE User:Hacker101[edit source]

That's vandalism!

120.28.229.12 is messing with pages, changing locations of stores and stuff![edit source]

120.28.229.12 tried to put Kmart 7424 in Cheyenne New York! There is no Cheyenne in New York! According to Blue pages, the same IP address also posted the last topic on this talk page... if it is indeed the same person, that's mighty ironic.--TheOptopolis (talk) 05:12, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

I don't know if this user is intentionally doing this or not (some recent edits have been otherwise legit), but this isn't the first instance of changing the location. I'll add that this IP was shown to have also changed the [Wyoming Family Dollar] to be shown as in Ohio, even though there is no Cheyenne in Ohio.--TheOptopolis (talk) 05:26, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Okay, you know what? I'm convinced it is vandalism at this point. In spite of my repetitive attempts to explain to this person that there are only TWO Cheyennes in the United States of America, they keep changing Kmart 7424 and Family Dollar 5901 to be in some other city that does not exist. I don't know what there is that can be done about this, but I'm getting tired of going in and reverting changes over and over and over again. Not sure what input you can provide on this matter if there even is input to be had.--TheOptopolis (talk) 22:02, 24 March 2024 (UTC) This time, they also changed Kmart 4413 to Ohio as well even though we all know that's incorrect. I've reverted that page back to the last edit as well.--TheOptopolis (talk) 22:13, 24 March 2024 (UTC) Sorry for the redundant changes to this page. But I got more info. This person has made similar nonsense changes to loads of places in the city of Cheyenne, Wyoming including O'Reilly Auto Parts 2726, Dollar Tree 2697, McDonald's 226, Wendy's 3504, Taco Bell 23074, Target T-1377, Target T-14, Safeway 2469, and possibly others that I've missed. This user is obviously now messing with places outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming.--TheOptopolis (talk) 22:24, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Alright, blocked them. --Reschultzed (talk) 22:32, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Not all Taco John's pages show in Taco John's Table[edit source]

It looks like someone tried to set up a infobox for Taco John's in the past, but the Taco John's I just added (Taco John's 1005) copying+pasting the template from the existing Taco John's location is not appearing in the Taco Johns table. Although a small detail and although it may not be a big deal, I'll note that an apostrophe is missing on the tables page. I have zero idea what would cause Taco John's 1005 to not appear in the Taco Johns table. Haven't had this issue before (i.e. Sears pages I've added in the past appear just fine in the table of Sears locations).--TheOptopolis (talk) 06:35, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

I refreshed the page and it came up on the table, so I guess it just took a little bit of time to process. You can force it to hurry up by purging the page cache. --Reschultzed (talk) 14:13, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

How to handle stores and businesses that relocate but keep the same store number for the new and old location?[edit source]

For the purpose of Bluepages, how would you recommend handling stores that kept the store number, but relocated? Cheyenne's Hobby Lobby, Hobby Lobby 164 is one such example. The web.archive of the locations list from 2006 shows that the Cheyenne store was still #164 at its old location. Should there maybe be the base page (Hobby Lobby 164) then individual pages for each of the locations belonging to that number, or do you have some other approach to handling such a situation?--TheOptopolis (talk) 02:43, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

Hmm... Found the same is true of Natural Grocers 38. Kept the same number in the relocation.--TheOptopolis (talk) 03:27, 28 March 2024 (UTC) OR--Edit, maybe not. I missed a detail that I now see. But that small of a number... Can't discount the possibility.--TheOptopolis (talk) 03:28, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

My strategy has typically been to keep them together on one page with multiple infoboxes. Here's an example: Hastings 9604 --Reschultzed (talk) 04:16, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

Another fake page[edit source]

Looks like someone created another Kmart that never existed. Kmart 9522. Definitely did not have that store in Cheyenne, WY.--TheOptopolis (talk) 21:37, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
