Porcaro's/Catrine's Barber Shop Edit
Frank Porcaro became a barber around 1923 and opened his own shop in 1926.[3] In 1931, Porcaro's shop was located nearby at 405 High Street,[4] but by 1935 it had moved into 1655 North Main Street, next to the Schroeder garage.[5]
Frank Catrine, who started working at Porcaro's shop at age 19 in April 1957, became a partner in the shop around 1967. Porcaro died on April 4, 1973,[3] and Catrine became the sole owner of the business.[6] Catrine and his employees have been members of the International Barbers Union .[7]
On October 30, 1992, during a campaign stop in Racine, President George H.W. Bush 's press secretary and doctor had their hair cut at Catrine's.[8]
