Built in 1985 to house Uvalde's first Walmart store,[1] which moved out of the building in 2004 in favor of an Walmart Supercenter located down the street,[2] the building 2 retailers such as Hobby Lobby and Bealls Florida.

Walmart Discount Store #782 (1985-2004) Edit
The Walmart store, store #782, opened on August 20, 1985.[3]
In 2004, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. bought a land at 3100 East Main Street, about a mile away from its existing store, and said that it would close the Discount Store #782 upon opening its new store there. The store at 3100 East Main Street closed on the night of October 26, 2004, a day before the opening of its replacement, Supercenter #782. The building's Walmart sign was removed on October 27, during the new Supercenter's grand opening ceremony.[4]
