3525 Rapids Drive is a building in Racine, Wisconsin, surrounded by Northwestern Avenue, Rapids Drive, and Floyd Drive. The building was constructed in 1983 for the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Racine, which was later acquired by First Bank Southeast and Firstar Bank. Since 2002, it has been occupied by the Rapids Drive Branch of Educators Credit Union.

History[edit | edit source]

Before 1983, the property was owned by the Belle City Credit Union, as part of its location at 3413 Rapids Drive. The Belle City Credit Union divided the parcel and sold the part of it that became 3525 Rapids Drive to the Racine Poster Advertising Company on June 16, 1983.[1] The company sold the property to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation on October 4 of that year, and Farmers & Merchants Bank of Racine purchased the property from the DOT on October 6.[1] Farmers & Merchants Bank built its first branch location on the site, which opened on June 18, 1984.[2] F&M Bank was acquired by First Bank Southeast in May 1985.[3] First Bank Southeast was acquired by Firstar Corporation, with an "Unveiling Ceremony" for the new Firstar Bank branch at Rapids Drive held on March 28, 1995.[4]

Educators Credit Union purchased the property on May 2, 2002.[1] The Educators branch opened on December 13, 2002.[5]
