4700 West Main Street is a restaurant building located in Dothan, Alabama on West Main Street. Originally built in 2013 for Alabama's first Del Taco restaurant, the 2,756 square-foot building would house a Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe location before Taziki's itself closed in 2022.

It is currently the site of Waldo's Chicken & Beer, having opened a year after Taziki's closure.

History[edit | edit source]

Del Taco (2013-2016)[edit | edit source]

On April 2, 2013, Del Taco announced that a location would open at the site; the restaurant, which was the first one in Alabama, held its grand opening the following day, being the first of 20 locations that were planned due to an agreement with Larry Blumberg & Associates (LBA).[1] Del Taco closed suddenly on March 24, 2016, with LBA Community Affairs Director Robert Goldsmith noting that the restaurant didn't sustain the profitability the company hoped it would.[2]

Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe (2017-2022)[edit | edit source]

On February 22, 2017, Taziki's announced plans to open a location in the former Del Taco building;[3] the restaurant officially opened on Tuesday, March 28, 2017[4]and would stay open for five years, closing on March 14, 2022.[5]
