5020 Academy Lane is a restaurant building located in Bessemer, Alabama. Originally built for Santa Fe Cattle Company in 2001, the 7,627 square-foot building would next house a buffet restaurant named Carnation Buffet a year after Santa Fe shuttered. The current tenant is The Juicy Seafood, having been open at the site since March 2021.

History[edit | edit source]

Santa Fe Cattle Company (2001-2010?)[1][edit | edit source]

Santa Fe first opened at the site in 2001; the building changed owners in 2006 when Spirit Master Funding III, LLC bought it from Sher-Wil, Inc. for $1,993,750.[2] The restaurant ultimately closed by 2010.[3]

Carnation Buffet (2011-2018)[4][edit | edit source]

A year after Santa Fe shuttered, Carnation Buffet opened at the site. By 2018, it would be abandoned and put for sale.[5]

The Juicy Seafood (2021-)[6][edit | edit source]

The Juicy Seafood opened at the site on March 13, 2021.[7]
