History
Fort Street within Wyandotte was widened into a "superhighway" boulevard in 1931 north of Eureka Road, and in 1940 between Eureka and the segment of Fort Street that was renamed Quarry Road at the same time. This placed the western municipal boundary of Wyandotte within the northbound traffic lane. To remedy this, on August 31, 1955, the city annexed a small strip, approximately 50 feet wide, of Ecorse Township between Baumey Street and Quarry, placing the new western municipal boundary within the median. Several months later, on April 5, 1956, the street began carrying M-85.
