Southeastern Savings Association was a savings and loan bank based in Racine, Wisconsin that operated from 1974 to 1983, when it merged with what is now North Shore Bank.[1]

Southeastern Savings was created on December 31, 1974, with the merger of Racine Savings and Loan Association and Racine Junction Savings and Loan Association. The merger added the latter's Uptown office to the former's three locations in the city of Racine.[2][3][4]
Southeastern's first new location opened in the Pine Crest Shopping Center in Burlington in April 1975.[5] Another opened in April 1978 at 8710 Racine Avenue (now Durand Avenue) in Sturtevant.[6][7]
A new branch opened at Westgate Mall on July 28, 1980, replacing the bank's previous west side location at 5100 Washington Avenue.[8] The former location was filled by a branch of Union Savings and Loan Association that opened in January 1981.[9]
At the end of 1983, Southeastern Savings was acquired by North Shore Savings and Loan Association. The merger brought North Shore, which already operated 11 branches in the Milwaukee area and Two Rivers, to a total of 17 branches.[10][11]
Locations[edit | edit source]
As of 2021, the North, Burlington, and Westgate branches are still operated by North Shore Bank. The Sturtevant location is now a branch of Tri City National Bank. The Downtown office is now occupied by Knight Barry Title Office. The headquarters building in Uptown is now vacant, most recently occupied by a CSL Plasma clinic. The west side location, occupied by Security Bank until 1997, is now home to Domino's Pizza #2006.
