**** Ah, good work on that. If you haven't already, you might want to look into the possibility that #3891, like many if not most '90s Kmarts, had a soft opening a few days ahead of the grand opening ceremonies. If they did, it won't necessarily be mentioned in the newspapers, but it often is. I point this out only because Kmart's internal database from 2002 has it listed as opening on 7/29/91, and three days would be a very typical gap between soft and grand openings for them. This would likely affect the closing of #4413 (and maybe #7424) as well. -Reschultzed (talk) 04:39, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

**** I guess that one is up for debate then! I do speak even from my own experience that it's common for many stores to have a soft opening. JAX is infamous for doing this. There's even a local coffee shop in my area (Snowy Elk Coffee) that didn't have a grand opening for something like two to three years after opening their storefront. Two chain restaurants around me recently had a soft opening the day before opening to the public where the workers' families and friends were invited to the respective restaurants. Because soft openings are rather common from what I've noticed, grand opening announcements always make me skeptical to jump and say "oh grand opening, that must be the first day!"
**** On the Grand Opening page dated July 31 1991 and posted to both The Wyoming Eagle and Wyoming State Tribune (same published date on both), Staff Writer Kevin Lumsden wrote, "A wider variety of name-brand products and more showroom space are the main features of the new Kmart store on Dell Range Boulevard. // The new store opens Aug. 1 with an increased attitude in customer service and more American made items, said Frank Perkovich, store manager." The writer didn't put quotation marks around what Frank Perkovich apparently said, so I don't know if there was paraphrasing happening there, but everything from "The new store opens..." to the end of what I've quoted here was on a separate line in the article. Further down, in the clipping, the caption for a photo states, "CUSTOMERS WILL get an opportunity to shop at the new Kmart store on Dell Range Boulevard on Aug. 1. The new...store is opening in place of the two previous Kmart stores - one on East Pershing Boulevard and the other on Yellowstone Road." A caption on another photo reaffirms that "the new store...will open Aug. 1." At that point, there is clearly some kind of miscommunication or typo or something somewhere, isn't there? Or possibly, some kind of detail that has been omitted... Oh the possibilities!--TheOptopolis (talk) 07:30, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
