2997 Fort Street was a building on Fort Street in Wyandotte, Michigan, between Oak and Maple streets. The building housed seven different bars during its operational existence.

History[edit | edit source]

Wiernik's Beer Garden tavern, later renamed Wiernik's Cocktail Garden, was in operation at 2997 Fort Street as early as 1938[1], and remained in operation at this address until the early 1990s.[2] Ranboozo's Pub had replaced it by 1997[1]. After a brief stint as Sandbox, 2997 Fort Street became Al's Bar by 1998, and closed on May 7, 2004.[3] The Stop In Lounge moved into the building nearly three months later on July 30.[4] When the property was foreclosed upon on September 17, 2007, The Stop In Lounge was shuttered.[4] Sometime after April 23, 2008[3], the building was reoccupied by 3rd Time Around, only for it to end up closing several years later.

On June 21, 2013, Toni's Place opened at 2997 Fort Street, though its operation ended up becoming short-lived. After the bar closed for the night at 1 a.m. on January 30, 2014, the building suffered a major fire, which originated in an office and storage space at the rear.[5] As the building was heavily damaged, Toni's Place never reopened, and the burned-out building was torn down on September 16, 2015.[3]

McQuiston Motors, a used-car dealership at adjacent 3017 Fort Street, applied for a Certificate of Occupancy for Auto Sales to expand its lot into the footprint of 2997 Fort Street on June 25, 2019.[6] As of 2021, though, the footprint of 2997 Fort Street remains vacant.
