708 Biddle Avenue is the displayed address of a building at the southwest corner of Biddle Avenue and Labadie Street in Wyandotte, Michigan. The building's legal address is 702 Biddle Avenue, and upper-level apartments have the address of 710 Biddle Avenue. The lower level has housed the Biddle Bowl & Lounge bowling alley since 1948.
History[edit | edit source]
Fred Woelkers opened Biddle Bowl & Lounge on the building's lower level in 1948. The business was sold to his son, Robert Woelkers, Sr., in 1972, who soon added eight new lanes to the facility, equipped with Brunswick A-2 automatic pinsetters. Paper scorekeeping was phased out in 1992 when Robert, Sr. added a Qubica automatic scorer system. Robert, Sr. sold Biddle Bowl & Lounge to Robert Woelkers, Jr. and Judy Sadler in 2002. Biddle Bowl & Lounge received major technological upgrades in 2012, with the purchase of a QubicaAMF Express B lane conditioner & oil machine in June, and the rollout of high-definition television monitors for scorekeeping in November.
