Ames Department Store #1183 was an Ames discount department store located at 2375 Romig Road in Akron, Ohio.[1]

This store was built across the street from Rolling Acres Mall. The store opened as Gold Circle on November 5th 1976.

Gold Circle went bankrupt in 1988 and most of their Northeast Ohio stores were purchased by Hills who opened in April 1989.

Ames bought out Hills in late 1998 and all stores were converted to Ames in April 1999.

As the company's financial troubles began to mount they scaled back their footprint in the early 2000s.

This location closed in late 2001 with the remaining locations in the Northeast Ohio area.

The building was used for a one off liquidation type sale similar to a flea market in 2004.

After that the building was sold and is now an office furniture manufacturer called Regency Office Furniture.
