IHOP #5337 is an IHOP restaurant located outside of Regency Mall at 5800 Durand Avenue in Racine, Wisconsin.[1] The restaurant opened on June 5, 2001, with a staff of 78 employees.[2] It was the chain's second location in Wisconsin.[3]

The 24-hour restaurant developed a reputation for late-night brawling in its early years. A 22-year-old Racine man was arrested at the restaurant in January 2003 for participating in a fight which drew a crowd of hundreds, and accused Racine police officers of using excessive force, and saying that a cut on his arm was not promptly treated at the Racine County Jail.[4] The fights abated after IHOP began hiring uniformed off-duty Racine police officers to serve as security guards at the restaurant on weekends.[5]

Management Hospitality of Racine was the franchise owner of the restaurant until it was dissolved in October 2005. In 2006, the restaurant was sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission This is a link to a Wikipedia article over alleged sexual harassment of female employees by an assistant manager.[6] The EEOC won the lawsuit in November 2009, with the restaurant's former owners being ordered to pay $105,000 in damages to two former waitresses.[7] The former owners did not pay the damages, ultimately paying $65,000 to settle the claim in August 2012.[8]

The restaurant temporarily closed on August 3, 2011, while IHOP searched for a new franchisee to operate the location.[9] It reopened on September 13, 2011, operated by IHOP.[10] The location was closed for remodeling from August 28 to September 1, 2017.[11]

On October 6, 2019, a fire caused by an improperly disposed cigarette caused $50,000 in damage at the restaurant, which was expected to reopen within three days.[12]
