Kmart #9846[1] was a planned Super Kmart Center supercenter located at North Avenue and Fond du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee. The 139,056-square-foot (12,918.7 m2) store was originally proposed in July 2000, intended to be the first Super Kmart in Wisconsin, as well as one of the chain's first supercenters in an urban area.[2] Facing skepticism from local residents, the developers hired community organizer Mary Glass in October 2001 to serve as a liaison consultant.[3] During the chain's bankruptcy proceedings, the plan for the store and attached shopping center was canceled in May 2002, before construction began.[4]
