The park is characterized by a lawn in the middle. At the edThe Rose Garden was created together with the magnificent buildings of the then Stalinallee (today: Karl-Marx-Allee) in the early 1950s. A protest by construction workers began at the park on June 16, 1953, which led to a nationwide popular uprising on June 17, 1953. Strikes, demonstrations and protests occurred throughout the GDR, with political and economic demands. This uprising was put down by the Soviet army. In 1979, a pergola was erected around half of the park. The park has been redesigned over time and was last restored again in 1994ge run paths, which are surrounded by beds with roses, other flowers and shrubs. In the 2015 and 2016 training years, apprentices from the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Lichtenberg parks departments renewed parts of the park in a training project (from June 22, 2015): In sections, the bordering of the borders was relaid and paths, benches, pergolas and lawns were reworked. From October 2015 there was replanting with roses and perennials. Some work had to be repeated, and in the meantime there were also work interruptions for vocational training purposes. The trainees received guidance from an experienced instructor from Lichtenberg. They worked according to plans drawn up by engineers from Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The total construction period lasted until fall 2016, and the total costs amounted to 40 to 50,000 euros for materials, plants and site equipment. The costs were borne by the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, distributed and scheduled over two years. This happened as part of the International Garden Exhibition 2017 (IGA) which took place in Marzahn To mark the 50th anniversary of the uprising, an aluminum plaque was affixed to a low brick wall in 2003 in a joint action by the DGB, IG BAU Berlin, IG Metall Berlin-Brandenburg-Sachsen, Bürgerbüro e.
