[[Nicholas George Theatres]], which was already operating the neighboring [[16300 Fort Street (Southgate, Michigan)#Fort Drive-In Theatre (1950–1990)|Fort George Drive-In Theatre]], purchased the site of what would become the Southgate Theatre in 1968.
