Tops Friendly Markets #250, also known as TOPS Buffalo (Jefferson - Riley), is a Tops Friendly Market supermarket located at 1275 Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, New York.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

The location opened in 2003 after calls from neighborhood residents to build a grocery store, as the primarily Black area that the store is in was considered a food desert.[2]

Mass shooting[edit | edit source]

In a mass shooting in the store on May 14, 2022, ten people were killed.[3] The attack was broadcast live on Twitch by the shooter.[4] He had earlier published a manifesto in which he identified as a white supremacist. After the shooting, the store closed until further notice.[2]
