3807 Fort Street is a commercial building on the southeast corner of Fort Street and Riverbank Street in Lincoln Park, Michigan. The building was constructed in 1946[2] to house the Jumbo Market convenience/meat store, which operated in the building until 2019. Another convenience store, Garden Market, moved into the building in August 2020, only to close itself in March 2021.

History[edit | edit source]

Jumbo Market opened at the address in 1946. Permits for building additions were filed in 1976 and 1978. A false mansard structure was constructed on the storefront in 1977, and, in turn, a permit to place an awning over the false mansard was filed in January 2002.[2] The store permanently closed in the fall of 2019.

The building sat vacant until August 2020, when Garden Market opened. Garden Market's tenure was short lived, as it closed in early March 2021.

Incidents[edit | edit source]

  • On May 2, 2011, at about 5:15 p.m., a Huffy 15-speed mountain bike left unattended by the owner was stolen from the front of the store.[3]
  • On May 22, 2011, at about 3:30 p.m., another mountain bike was stolen from the front of the store.[4]
