Best Buy #29 originally opened in the Regency Point Shopping Center, at 2308 South Green Bay Road, on September 30, 1987, the 35th location in the chain.[2] By 1994, the company decided that the 22,000-square-foot (2,000 m2) store was too small and planned to relocate. The Regency Point store closed on November 13, 1994, and the new location at 2630 South Green Bay Road opened on November 17, with a grand opening ceremony the following day.[3]

Circuit City #3177 opened next door to the store in 2000. After Circuit City Stores closed all its locations in 2009, Best Buy decided to move its Racine store into the former Circuit City space, although the space was about 25% smaller than its existing store.[4] Best Buy opened at Southland Center on October 21, 2009.[5]
