Borders Books & Music #142 was a Borders Books & Music bookstore located at 5 World Trade Center in New York, New York.[1] The store opened on September 3, 1996, the chain's first location in Manhattan.[2][3] It occupied the northeast corner of the street, mezzanine, and concourse levels of the building.[4] It closed on September 11, 2001, when the building was heavily damaged by the terrorist attacks This is a link to a Wikipedia article on the neighboring World Trade Center towers.[5] Borders eventually returned to lower Manhattan with the opening of store #566 in 2003.[6]
