Kmart #4070 was a Kmart discount department store located at 2176 Bankhead Highway Northwest in Atlanta, Georgia.[1] Opening on March 16, 1964 in former Thrift City store buildings, the location and its twin, Kmart #4071 in Marietta, were the 56th and 57th stores in the Kmart chain and the first two in the Atlanta area.[2] The attached food store opened ahead of time on January 1, 1964, the day after Thrift City's lease expired.[3] The store closed on or around December 26, 1996.[4]
