Kroger #387, also known as Collierville New Byhalia Kroger, is a Kroger supermarket located at 240 New Byhalia Road in Collierville, Tennessee.[1]
History
The Super II store opened on November 14, 1982, replacing a store in Eastgate.[2] On February 15, 1992, the store was announced to be expanding from 42,000 square feet to more than 60,000, as the result of a purchase of a new tract of land.[3] In June of 2007, another expansion was finished that raised the store's footprint to 81,788 square feet, making it the largest Kroger store in the area.[4] In January of 2014, a man stole $900 worth of lottery tickets from the store.[5]
Mass shooting
A mass shooting happened at the store on September 23, 2021. Before the gunman, 29-year-old Uk Thang, committed suicide by gunfire, one person was murdered and 13 others were injured. Thang was employed as a third-party vendor at the store's sushi outlet.[6]
The store reopened on November 10, 2021 with improved security after a month of renovations.[7]
