McDonald's #32 is a McDonald's restaurant located at 444 South River Road in Des Plaines, Illinois.[1] Originally located at 400 Lee Street, the restaurant was the first opened by Ray Kroc in 1955, the first McDonald's location outside the southwest United States, and was unofficially described as "McDonald's #1" by the McDonald's Corporation. The current restaurant opened across the street in 1984, while the original building was replaced with the McDonald's No. 1 Store Museum and ultimately demolished in 2018.

Ray Kroc opened his first McDonald's franchise at 400 Lee Street on April 15, 1955.[2] The original restaurant building was demolished in 1984, with several elements of the building being preserved, including its sign. The company built the McDonald's No. 1 Store Museum in its place in 1985. Prone to flooding, the museum closed in 2008, and the company ultimately announced in November 2017 that it would demolish the museum building and donate the land to the city of Des Plaines.[3]
