Plans for a ten-screen movie theater were first pitched by [[Emagine Entertainment]] site developer John Goldstein in 2008 to be constructed near the intersection of [[Allen Road (Woodhaven, Michigan)|Allen Road]] and [[Hayden Drive (Woodhaven, Michigan)|Hayden Drive]], but a request to rezone the area from industrial to commercial was rejected by the Woodhaven City Council after complaints from nearby residents that the site was too far off from the city's main commercial district. Emagine Entertainment then settled for a location at the northern edge of the commercial district.
