History[edit | edit source]

Mass shooting[edit | edit source]

Employees at the supermarket were stocking and closing the store for the night in the early hours of June 8, 2017. Randy Stair, 24, barricaded the store's entrances shortly before 1:00 a.m., then shot and killed three of his coworkers before fatally shooting himself.[2]

Weis Markets announced the store's reopening on June 14, 2017.[3] The exterior of the building was preserved, but the interior was gutted and reconstructed with a new floor plan. The store reopened on July 13, 2017. The store's reopening was met with mixed feelings by the community.[4]
