Kmart #4000 was a Kmart discount department store located at Garden Plaza, 29600 Ford Road in Garden City, Michigan. The store opened March 1, 1962 and closed March 2017,[1][2] and it was the first full-size Kmart store. It was the second Kmart store of any kind, after Kmart #4003 opened in January 1962.[3] The store was originally 60,000 square feet (5,600 m2)[4] and was later expanded. The store building was demolished on March 12, 2020, to be replaced by an LA Fitness gym.[5]
