Kmart #4139 was a Kmart discount department store located at Kmart Shopping Center, 9334 East R L Thornton Freeway in Dallas, Texas.[1] The store opened on September 22, 1966 as one of the first two Kmarts in the city of Dallas, one of three stores to open that day for a total of 148 Kmarts overall, and was tied for the 14th Kmart in Texas with Kmart 4161.[2] Between 1989 and 1995, the store was remodeled and expanded into the former Kmart Foods from a pre-1972 full size model Kmart. In 1998, the store would be converted to Big Kmart.[3] The store ultimately closed on June 2, 2002.[4][5]
