The store opened on November 3, 1977 as the 61st Kmart in Texas, and the 1,328th Kmart overall.[1] Between 1989 and 1995, the store would be expanded into the former auto center from a Group 7 mini Kmart and remodeled. In 1998, the store would be converted to Big Kmart. The store ultimately closed on April 13, 2003.[2][3]
