Kmart #7296 was a Kmart discount department store located at Northshore Plaza, 1400 Wildcat Drive in Portland, Texas.[1] The store opened on November 13, 1980 as the third Kmart in the Coastal Bend area, and the 134th Kmart in Texas.[2] In 1991, the store would expand into the former auto center and be remodeled from a Group 7 mini Kmart.[3] In 1999, the store would be converted to Big Kmart.[4] The store ultimately closed on April 8, 2018,[5] and was torn down in 2020 for shopping center redevelopment.[6]
