On the Sutherlands pages, you left out a ton of information and added it incorrectly on the infoboxes too. To see an example of how it should be done, take a look at Sutherlands 3123

Kmart 7424

Spreadsheet says it closed in 1995 while the page says 1994, is it true that it closed in 1995?

  • Hey there! Side note just to make sure we are on the same page with this topic, the text in the Kmart 7424 article says the Kmart store closed in the early 90s, not 1994; 1994 was the year Sutherlands opened at the former Kmart. Kmart 7424 physically could not have even been present the entire year of 1995 as Sutherlands was present in and before the year 1995, therefore Kmart 7424 must have closed prior to 1995. 1) If you read the KGAB article on Sutherland's closing, it mentions that Sutherlands opened in 1994. 2) The 1994 Cheyenne City Directory (Polk) notes Sutherlands as present in 1994, which means this Kmart store must have closed no later than 1994. 3) The 1993 Cheyenne City Directory (Polk) lists the space as vacant, and the 1992 Cheyenne City Directory (Polk) lists the space as "Not Verified." I've done further research that indicates the Dell Range Kmart (store 3891) replaced both the Yellowstone Road Kmart (7424) and the Pershing Blvd Kmart (4413); this is according to information in archived newspapers from the time (referenced where appropriate in those articles). The 1991 Cheyenne City Directory (Polk) does list Kmart as present; it's likely the directory was published before the Dell Range store (3891) opened. I'm doing further research to see if I can verify in which year the store indeed closed, and possibly, whether there is any overlap between the old Yellowstone store (7424) and the new Dell Range store (3891). One could likely infer which year (and perhaps, which month) the Yellowstone road Kmart (7424) closed based on the history of the Dell Range Kmart (3891), but I'd rather have more fact, less inference. Side note, I have edited the text in Kmart 7424 as to hopefully avoid future confusion and make it clear Sutherlands opened in 1994 and not that the Kmart closed in 1994 as Kmart closed in the early 90s and no later than 1994.--TheOptopolis (talk) 20:03, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
  • Edit: I did see that the infobox somehow got the 1994 date into it, that was a typo which I've fixed. It now states "Early 90s." Will update this if and when I know more details.--TheOptopolis (talk) 06:32, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bQbJ704l5I8hkf4hUNa7IyYzGW5I3CIBYmqigrRLD7g/edit#gid=332535324 It still states 1995 there.

  • Yeah, and unfortunately, the spreadsheet is wrong on the date Kmart 7424 closed. That spreadsheet was assembled based on data collected from various members of the public across the country (and even the world). If I recall correctly (which this was years ago at this point), the reason 1995 was noted because number one, back then, that was the closest thing to a known date of closure in the broader public, and two, it was understood this Kmart has a rather similar history to another Kmart in Casper, Wyoming that also became a Sutherlands (which it does; built at a similar time with similar building type and facade, closed around the 90s, etc., etc., I could go on, but I think one can get what I'm saying. I am continuing to research this topic, and hopefully (fingers crossed), one of my leads on archived sources can yield an answer that can provide a more certain answer to when Kmart 7424 closed (besides between 1991 and 1994). I do recommend at least giving a read of the article on Sutherland's Cheyenne closing, because it is one of at least two sources that confirm Kmart was gone prior to 1995.--TheOptopolis (talk) 00:09, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
    • Hey, as the creator of the spreadsheet, I'm glad this has been brought to my attention. Would you happen to have access to wyomingnewspapers.org? It seems like that would have the Cheyenne newspapers, which would probably help to narrow down if not confirm the closing date, but it seems like you need a card from a Wyoming library to see any of the results. -Reschultzed (talk) 17:22, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
    • P.S. here's what I can find as of right now. According to an ad in the Scottsbluff Star-Herald, which was recently digitized, Sutherlands held its grand opening in the former Kmart in July 1994: [1] There was a Pay 'n Pak bankruptcy auction at the same address in September 1992 (would this be the smaller space to the north that is now SMART Sports Medicine?): [2] Also, while I can't see the contents of the Wyoming Eagle and Wyoming State Tribune, I can see the dates that certain phrases appear in there. Searching for "5221 Yellowstone" tells me that, aside from a few scattered results in the mid-70s, that address started regularly showing up in the papers in June 1981 and then suddenly stopped in September 1992. Then no results at all during 1993 (might just be that they haven't digitized anything from 1993, though) and you start getting results again in April 1994 (presumably Sutherlands preparing to open). So, based on that, I would think the Kmart most likely closed in 1992, and I've updated the spreadsheet to reflect that. -Reschultzed (talk) 17:41, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Replying to Reschultzed and TheOptopolis

I'm thinking add this to notes: The store was replaced by 3891?. It had been vacant as of 1993, and the space was listed as "not verified" in 1992. Later Sutherlands 4307, which opened in 1994, now Wyoming Workforce Center.

Sutherlands

As an user, Tag2292 stated you've been adding incorrect information to the Sutherlands infoboxes. Look at Sutherlands 3123 as stated as an example to know how it should be done. --120.28.227.65 00:31, 17 February 2024 (UTC)

Replaced and Replaced by

Do not use "replaced" and "replaced by" for previous and next tenants, an user said this is how they are used: "replaced" and "replaced_by" are intended for locations that have moved. If a store moved to another location and something else opened in its former place, you would put the store's new location under "replaced_by" and the thing that opened in the old location as "next". I recognize that this might be confusing, but I couldn't really think of a better way to do it. - an user https://www.bluepageswiki.org/wiki/User_talk:Reschultzed#TheOptopolis_using_replaced_fields Only use "replaced" and "replaced by" for stores that moved to another location. Let me say it, if Target T-1234 was replaced by Target T-2345, and Kmart 3333 was replaced by Kmart 9009 (just examples), Target T-1234 should be in "Replaced" for Target T-2345's page and that location should be in the "replaced by" page of the old location. Same logic applies to Kmart 3333 example location (All of these are real store numbers, just examples) and the next tenants and previous tenants should clearly go onto the "previous" for previous tenants and "next" for next tenants.
