Kmart #3497 was a Kmart discount department store located at Park Plaza I, 4815 Highway 6 North in Houston, Texas.[1] The store opened on November 15, 1979,[2] and was tied with Kmart 3404 for the 114th Kmart in Texas. Between 1989 and 1995, the store would be remodeled. In 1997, the store would be converted to one of the first 24 Big Kmarts in Texas, with a grand re-opening ceremony on November 14.[3] The store ultimately closed on June 2, 2002.[4][5]
