Kmart #4302 was a Kmart discount department store located at Kmart Plaza, 6327 Stewart Road in Galveston, Texas.[1] The store opened on July 17, 1969,[2] It was one of two stores to open that day for a total of 295 Kmarts overall,[3] and was the 24th Kmart in Texas. In 1993, the store would expand into the former Kmart Foods and be remodeled from a pre-1972 full-size model Kmart.[4] A grand re-opening ceremony of the renovated store was held on September 12.[5] In 1997, the store would be converted to one of the first 24 Big Kmarts in Texas, with a grand re-opening ceremony on November 14.[6] The store ultimately closed on April 13, 2003.[7][8]
